CouldBeDown

CouldBeDown vs Calendly

Calendly alternative for when the whole group needs one time

Calendly is built for other people booking time with you; CouldBeDown is built for a group of people working out one time that suits everyone. If you are booking clients one at a time, stay with Calendly; if you are herding friends, a team or a club, CouldBeDown fits better.

Four people, one shared window

In a booking tool one person's availability decides. Here three invented people each contribute theirs, and the overlap is the answer. Add yours.

Best overlap

Best overlap: Tue 11 AM to 1 PM (3 of 4 free); Mon 1 PM to 2 PM (3 of 4 free).

Who sets the availability?

In a booking tool, one person publishes open slots and everyone else picks one. That is the right shape when the calendar being protected belongs to a single person: a consultant, a recruiter, a teacher with office hours.

A group plan has the opposite shape. Nobody owns the calendar. Every attendee's free time counts equally, and the useful answer is the intersection. CouldBeDown is built around that intersection: all attendees mark their availability on one grid and the shared time lights up.

Where CouldBeDown fits and where it does not

It fits informal, many-to-many planning: a friends' dinner, a committee meeting, a board game night, a team offsite. Each participant types their name (or signs in with Google), marks their times, and RSVPs to what the organizer proposes.

It does not fit anything that looks like selling, hiring or client work. There are no booking pages, no payments, no round-robin assignment among teammates, and no embedding on your website. If you need any of that, Calendly is a far better tool for the job.

Using both

They coexist fine. Some people use a booking tool for their working life and CouldBeDown for everything social or group-based. Because CouldBeDown can show your Google Calendar busy times on the grid, meetings booked elsewhere still block the times you would otherwise offer.

Who CouldBeDown is and isn't for

  • Committees and teams where no single person owns the schedule.
  • Anyone who wants an RSVP from every attendee for the chosen slot.

  • You need payments, branding, embeds or team routing.
  • You want people to book without signing in.

Frequently asked questions

Can CouldBeDown replace Calendly?

Only for group planning. It has no booking pages, payments or team routing, so anything client-facing should stay on a booking tool.

What does CouldBeDown do that a booking link does not?

It combines many people's availability on one grid, so the shared time surfaces on its own. A booking link exposes one person's calendar.

Can I use both together?

Yes. If you connect Google Calendar to CouldBeDown, meetings booked through other tools show up as busy times on your grid.

Do attendees need accounts?

No. Attendees type their name to respond. Signing in with Google is optional.

Can the organizer offer a few times instead of one?

Yes. You can propose several times for one plan and each person RSVPs going or not going to each.

Does CouldBeDown send reminders?

It sends email when a time is proposed or confirmed. Text messages are marked as coming soon and are not live.
